2010 OPHA Annual Hunt
Members, the theme for this years hunt, is Westward Ho!!!
Yes, we have decided to move the hunt from the East side of the state to the Western side. Literally, from one extreme to the other. The decision to move along with changing the way we do things was a little difficult. We appreciate your patience, but we are almost done with the planning of the event. Here is the information that we currently have available:
Where: Elk City
This event will take place at the Elk Inn (former Holiday Inn) located on the South side of I-40, exit #38.
We have negotiated a rate of $70 per night, per room. There will only be a limited number of rooms available to us this year, so you better book early. When booking, you must mention that you are there for the OPHA hunt, and would like the OPHA rate. (Normal rates are $90+ a night). No rooms can be booked at the $70 rate after Jan. 15, 2010. However, I don't expect the block of rooms we have to last that long. Also be sure and indicate if you want a single bed or a double bed room.
Guys the Elk's Inn has extended the time to book a room untill February 1st if it is not done by then you will have to pay full price. Guys there is an on site Laundry Room, a small Gym and WIFI in the rooms. Also just through the grape vine I here that Dog Dinger is bringing his swiming trunks because there is an indoor pool. Pets are okay with an additional $20.00 deposit per stay (not per night). Side note on the pets, you will have to sign a contract agreeing that you will follow hotel rules and you will also be responsable for any damages your pet does that is over the $20.00 deposit so check with the hotel if you are going to bring a pet.

Here is a tentative Schedule of events:
Thursday 5:00 PM Jeff Holly will be conducting a class on ECaller how to's down loading sounds, arranging sounds and things to do with the ECaller.
At 6:00pm there is going to be a class on calling technique and how to use hand calls put on by Joe Bradshaw (Arky) you will need a hand call for this. If you don't have one Joe or one of the other guys will have one you can buy. Thursday 7:00 PM - Meet and Greet
Friday - Social Night
Saturday
8:00 PM - We will kick off with our banquet meal. ( The meal will include Brisket and Grilled Chicken,Potatoes,Vegetables,Rolls,Soupand Salad bar, and Cobbler.)
8:15 Special Guest Speakers Jeff Thomason and Todd Woodall from Predator Pursuit, and then our prize giveaway. Sunday - 10:00 AM - Goodbye Breakfast

We will be raffling off the hunt gun again this year.
The hunt gun is an AR15 in .223 cal. (This is all I know guys.) . We will be giving it away the same way we did last year. This is how it will work. 1. We will draw out 5 tickets. 2. We will then put up for bid one of the pisitions, once the bidding has come to an end anyone of the five can take the money and run, walk, or whatever to set down or stay and suffer the heart break of maybe having your ticket drawn and having to sit down broke. If one of the 5 ticket holders takes the money the high bidder gets to take that persons place and possibly suffer the heart break of maybe having the ticket that he or she bid on be drawn and have to sit down broke. 3. This will continue untill only 2 members are standing. One of the remaining 2 members can take the bid or they can offer the other remaining member compensation and get the gun or go till the very end and see who comes out the winner. (Note I know this may not be clear but we will explain the rules again at the hunt or give me a call and I will try to explain it better. PG48 Leonard)
Cost:
Membership - $20 (unless you have a multi year or lifetime membership)
Banquet Meal Ticket - $25 (This price includes the meal for Sat. night and Breakfast Sun. Morning.) This can be sent to LazyD at the address below Please include your Name as well as your user/screen name on all corespondences. Or you can do this via PayPal by going to My Stuff at the top of the screen, and then Subscriptions, then choose more details to the right of the hunt meal ticket.

Plan on these two costs, plus licenses, land use fees at certain public areas, and hotel rooms, if you choose to incur them.

Guys if you want to view the department of wildlife hunting areas around Elk City you can go to www.wildlifedepartment.com when you get there go to the bottom right of the website and click on Digital wildlife management areas and go from there. Guys if you are planning on selling any Calls or any kind of Products at the Hunt this year you need to contact Jeff Holly for details to set up and sell your merchandise.
