Well I got the Noveske 18" SPR barrel in and throwed it together this past week. Got it to the range and had a bit of a problem but got it sorted out. Went back to the range and got it sighted in last night, just dead on at 50 yards, it was getting dark so no chronograph. Built it to use up my 77 gr SMK's and was hoping to get 2750 fps out of them.

Went out this morning and put this ugly thing out of it's misery.

Got back to the truck and ran it over the chrony, average speed in 39 degree temp was 2658 fps. Don't think it's gonna kill like the 75 V-max at 3100 or 3600 but dead is dead I reckon.

Ok, the Match Mod 0 chamber is designed to run NATO pressure ammo in the heat (basicly it's a looser cut) so that may explain the velocity loss and with more powder it should reach 2750-2800 fps.

Nice lookin HDR there and a good job on putting that one out of misery it needed it bad.

LOL, well guys they do tend to bleed quite a bit when you shoot the top of his nose off. He slowly walked to the caller (I was hoping for a cat all the way and in the thickest creek bottom I could find) just before he was clear of the briars and brush he smelled me and whirled around in a run. I might have led him a bit too much... this wasn't a good year for him.

Bought a heavy barrel Savage mod 12bvfs in 22-250 today.i"ll take it to Broken Bow in a week or two and have Craig run an improved tite neck reamer in it. Should make a nice critter killer for moderately close work. Something to do...
