J.W. OPHA Board Member Registered: 03/18/07 Posts: 1155 Loc: stillwater,ok	Do you guys walk to the stand then put one in the pipe,or do you put one in at the truck? Is there a way to load one quietly? self OPHA Member Registered: 10/04/07 Posts: 434 Loc: Stigler	I usually put one in the chamber when I start walking to the stand. But, you can just hold the charging handle while closing the bolt and once it gets most of the way shut use your thumb and push the bolt forward to make sure its in full battery. Or the forward assist could do it, but I think using my hand would help me feel and make sure it closed all the way.

TOM OPHA Member - Moderator Registered: 03/12/07 Posts: 2286 Loc: Okie land	I prefer to let the round slam home, if you will. I have tried to load quietly then use the forward assist but I feel more comfortable loading it the way it was designed. And I load up at the truck.

With semi auto pistols and rifles I prefer to use the slide/bolt hold open mechanism, insert a magazine and drop the slide or bolt without my hand getting in the way or dragging on the action.
