I had a customer who wanted me to paint a Desert Tactical Arms SRS, which is a sniper weapons system, but instead of being the plain old camoflage he wanted me to paint it up to look like a Gila Monster which are native to his home state of Arizona. I have finished it and think I got pretty close. Even though he isn't a member here, I thought I would share this anyhows because I think it is kewl to see some guy put a Gila Monster paint job onto a $7,000 rifle

Here is the completed gun out in his native state of Arizona

No kidding. I'd give a kidney for one of those. Some people like to sling mud because they don't understand what they are looking at.

Well I did look it up on you tube and it is a neat rifle,is it $7000.00 neat, not for me, but I dont have $7000 in all my guns so maybe it a rich guy thing or Tactical gun expert thing, or military cloned what ever thing, but like you said Donavan everyone has different taste, maybe you could buy one and i'll come shoot then i'll decide further. Belly Flopper I hope you saw that I was not putting down your work, everything I have seen that you do it topnotch and I was only saying I thought the gun was a sale's gimmick to people who flock to the " Tactical" sells pitch and thats really all, hell they Tactical bacon on the internet and I guess the term has rubbed me wrong for to long now

I get a kick out of all the people who hate the tactical stuff, it's downright funny.

Tactics is just a word and tactical products should serve a purpose to fulfill a tactic used. Doesn't make anyone a ninja.

Looks SUPER, Greg!
I must admit, my 1st impression was "who the heck built an SRS out of LEGO?" All those little dots had me dizzy for just a second and I had a flashback of playing LEGOs with my niece & nephew bugeyes I get the Gila Monster thing now though. AWESOME detail!

Hey Waylon, I had my 'tactical' rifle at the OPHA Hunt a couple weeks ago, just because I felt like killing a couple with it. Well, it sure enough killed some coyotes just fine. But I hear what you are saying about the 'catch word'. Seems like other new product on the market is somehow 'tactically' motivated...

But again, Greg... very NICE!!!

This rifle is a true tactical rifle on the Nth order. Everything about it is for the tactically minded person. It is geared more towards the military and those units which have a high degree of need. This doesn't keep somebody with a lot of money from just buying one and painting it like a Gila Monster if they like. True some folks tack a "tactical" onto something to try to sell it, and then again sometimes the word Tactical fits the bill perfectly. This is one of those times. This is likely one of the best tactical rifles ever built in history.

Waylon,

You are alright. Guns, religion, politics, coon hounds, and mommas. Those are all sensitive issues. wink

You better not be calling my momma a coon hound.

Mr. Holly runs a TA01NSN ACOG on one of his AR15s <-- Tactical. That gun also has a collapsible stock, short barrel, and high capacity magazine. I will give it to him that is is painted more to look like a sandstone rock or patch of dirt than a Gila Monster though so he has that going for him. You don't even want to look inside one of my gun safes.
