Warden,
I am still waiting on my exemption card (or whatever they use) to come from the VA in Muskogee. In the meantime, can I just carry my VA documentation that states my disability percentage? I'm really itching to hunt some hogs, you see, and waiting for the gov't is usually a long term commitment.

From the hunting regulations concerning license exemptions:

Veterans Affairs Lifetime Hunting & Fishing License

Resident veterans 60 percent or more disabled, so certified by the Veterans Administration, are exempt only from the hunting license.

Resident veterans 100 percent disabled, so certified by the Veterans Administration, are exempt from the hunting license and all deer licenses.

Veterans may contact the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs at 1-888-655-2838 for a card verifying exemption; or they may carry V.A. documentation stating their percent of disability.

That was my understanding, and I had read this. I just wanted to be sure. Thanks for replying. I would just hate to get caught short.

Fishing license exemptions:

Resident disabled veterans with 60 percent or more disability. Call State Dept. of Veterans Affairs, 1 (888) 655-2838 to acquire the license and proof of exemption.

I ended up having to call Muskogee again. Apparently they just forgot to mail it to me. I got the license in the mail a few days ago. It covers me for basic hunting and fishing, for life. I reckon I still have to buy the deer tags though. How does that work?
