Has anyone sold any fur yet? If you have, could you tell me what they sold for.

I've never dealt with the guy, but you can check www.kanoklafurco.com, I know he has some prices on there. If anyone has any input on this buyer, I'd like to hear it, as I may try to sell some to him this year. Thanks, Clint

Personally I would steer clear of him. He is tied to pricing by a backer with the money, and he tries to corner the western market here in Oklahoma. He has been unprofessional and hateful to both other fur buyers from both Kansas and Oklahoma, and a few years back he tried to dictate by business threat, the procedure of fur auction to the OFBA. We did not invite him to the auctions that year.

Now ... what to target for fur season?

Cats
Otter
Wild Mink
Muskrats
Large, XL, XXL Coon (Stay away from mediums and smalls)

If it's not in the list ... and you catch it, then use it as an opportunity to sharpen your skills in skinning, fleshing, and "putting up" the hides.

Reggie, do you know of anyone you would recommend out in the western part of the state? I probably won't have much to sell anyway, but was just wondering about my options. Thanks again

The guy at KanOkla fur was good to deal with when I sold fur to him.Take some stuff to him and if you don't think the price is fair don't sell to him.

One name you won't find on the list is Rick Bunyard. Rick is up in Kansas, and will be purchasing his OK Fur Buyers License soon. Rick is very honest and a great guy to sell to as well. Rick's number is ... 620-736-1106

Found out about a guy that's coming through Elk City buying fur this winter. Next time he comes is Jan. 1st, and every other Saturday or so after that. He buys at Elk City Outdoors, used to be Brooks Marine. His number is 409-782-2784, name is Chuck Reddell, thought some of you might want to know.

Chuck Reddell is a great guy to buy from. He now owns the family business, which is the largest in the U.S. and holds two locations ... south Texas and I think Kansas. His Grandfather, is the first person I ever sold fur to when I was a kid. The first thing he purchased was a wild mink, and some nutria rats.

Chuck should also be at the O.F.B.A. auctions this year.

I just talked to rick bunyard earlier today. Rick said coyotes are only bringing 5 dollars cause the market is not good here for yotes since it does not get cold enough and their pelts don't get as heavy as the yotes in the northern states. He did say cats will be good this year anywhere from 80 to 100 dollars. His cell number is 620-583-4518. He also said that coons were bringing 12 dollars.

Coons are bringing $12 ... but that for Large, XL, XXL and Jumbo ONLY. The mediums and smalls are not worth anything.

The reason why it's $8 on unskinned, is because he can harvest the castor glands ... and those bring a lot more $$$.

Chuck Reddell's website is http://texasfur.com/ and it shows his routes. He has an obligation for Mar. 5, 2011 already, but told me just a while ago that if there's anyway possible he can get to the O.F.B.A. Auction ... or get a rep there ... they will make the attempt to have an appearance at the auction.

Dont forget about "The Fur Shed" in Butler, Ok. They buy furs also. They are located in the western part of the state. They have only been in busines for a few years and are very good to youth hunters/trappers. Phone number is: 405-574-2515
They are very easy to deal with but they do not like giving you a quote over the phone as your fur can not be graded that way!
